Keith Osborne
Keith grew up in Ballarat Victoria where cold nights were spent around the huge open fireplace. It was there, that his grandfather and uncles would recite the poems of Patterson, Lawson and other Aussie legends. Delivered with passion, they painted vivid images of hardship and triumph in times past. Of course, there was special delight as the humorous yarns like “Mulga Bill’s Bicycle” and “The Man from Ironbark” were made all the more enjoyable when delivered in perfect rhyme and metre. His children were also treated to these yarns as bedtime stories, and now those children pass them on to the next generation. So, when asked to deliver a speech, or write something for a special occasion, the challenge of delivering the message with rhyme & metre was irresistible, and very popular with the audience. Initially, these were personal, but over time, they became about family events or daily life. 2015, he helped form the “West Gippsland Poets” in Victoria, and began performing at festivals and other events, including the “Man From Snowy River Festival” in Corryong. Since moving to Queensland in 2019, Keith has become a member of the North Pine Bush Poets and attends the Bribie Island Poets and Poets by the Bay when he can. Keith also appears with some of the North Pine Poets' performances around Brisbane. These days, Keith mostly writes stories and hopes to be published soon. Of course, mistakes, misfortune, mishaps and misadventure are his favourite source of inspiration and likely to get his muse into gear. He also writes special occasion poetry on request for Birthdays, Weddings, Funerals and Out-of-Control Parties.
