Mike Gilmour
G’Day. Poetry writing and reading has been a life interest for me. I perform regularly at community events, libraries, senior’s facilities, festivals, concerts and poetry competitions.
In 2024 I was selected to recite poetry at the Brisbane Lord Mayors Seniors Cabaret Concert in Brisbane City Hall before 1400 people. In 2023 I was a runner for the same concert.
Two of my poems have been published in the Henry Lawson centenary anthology ‘Beyond Lawson’ in 2022. My poems have also been published in other journals and websites.
I am very happy to recite at your event in the Brisbane region, and for community organisations on a pro bono basis. I am a ‘True Blue’ Aussie, born in Pinjarra WA. I spent my youth and early working years in the mid North of South Australia near the Flinders Ranges. I now live in Brisbane with my wife, along with our children and grandchildren.
I am a proud Australian, and I use every opportunity to promote this great country through poetry and other means. This pride extends to the promotion of our floral emblem, the Golden Wattle, as President of the Queensland Wattle Association.
