I drive a common car and there are lots of them about,
yet still, I keep things simple, I’m not into standing out;
but now, I’m reconsidering my wisdom on that score
in light of what just happened at the local corner store.

I parked the car right out the front, did errands and returned
to find it scratched and dented: so my temper quickly churned.
I ranted and I raved, I clenched my fists and fairly shook,
I went and found the manager and made him have a look.

The poor man waited patiently until my voice was calm,
and then he walked up quietly, and took me by the arm.
“Now, Ma’am, I’m truly touched,” he said “to see how much you care;
but this here car belongs to me, and your car’s over there.”
